Well laura wanted to do some roll over effects on one of her sites so I had to figure out how to do that.  Well after lots of searching this was the solution I came up with.

First download jquery.js and upload it to the server

Second add these lines of code to your header.php or scripts section of your site:

<script type='text/javascript' src='location of jquery script'></script>

<script type='text/javascript'>
 $(document).ready(function(){
 $("img.a").hover(
 function() {
 $(this).stop().animate({"opacity": "0"}, "slow");
 },
 function() {
 $(this).stop().animate({"opacity": "1"}, "slow");
 });
 });
 </script>

Then edit the CSS of your site and add these classes (styling may vary!):

div.fadehover {
 position: relative;
 height: 238px; /*this is to space your images*/
 width: 360px;
 }

img.a {
 position: absolute;
 left: 0;
 top: 0;
 z-index: 10;
 border: 2px;
 border-style:solid;
 border-color: black;
 padding: 5px 5px 5px 5px;
 }

img.b {
 position: absolute;
 left: 0;
 top: 0;
 border: 2px;
 border-style:solid;
 border-color: black;
 padding: 5px 5px 5px 5px;
 }

Then you will just need to add these lines to your page:

<div class="fadehover">
 <img src="startimage.jpg" class="a" alt="" />
 <img src="endimage.jpg" class="b" alt="" />
 </div>

After doing that you should have your achieved effect of the roll over and image swap

New Flowers to the Landscape

I like to keep a record of everything we have growing in our yard so we can remember what was planted.  Here are the recent additions to the front yard, they are all perennial flowers and of course for me and Laura low maintenance!

White Flowers: Shasta Daisy
Purple Flowers: Magnus Echinacea
Yellow Flowers: Coneflower Goldsturn

New Fireplace

So when we bought this house we knew that we were going to be changing the fireplace because it was a little dated and dark to say the least.  Well after getting all the wood floors done we were able to focus on changing the fireplace for the better.  We did travertine tile on the bottom and then had a contractor help us out with the drywall on top.  It is amazing how much this changed the room and well worth the value.  It has lightend up the room and made it a much softer atmosphere for the room!  We finished it just in time for my graduation party!  Like 3 days before the party, so not much time to spare…

Landscape Checkup

Well last year we added a bunch of new landscape and I wanted to add some pictures that would compare year over year growth so the slide show you see below is for 2010 growing season.  I was really impressed with how much larger our bushes are now in the front!

Landscaping With Life

So this weekend we decided to plant some new bushes and flowers and trees in our newly landscaped areas in the backyard.  23 in all and lots of holes to dig and lots of dirt to move it was pretty crazy. Showed up at the plant place with pictures of what we had to work with and then talked with a plant designer for about an hour figuring out what to put where and what would work good with the exposure it receives and worrying about things like acidity levels under the trees and what would grow.  She was amazing helpful as we are sort of plant retarded!  Also we put in a soak line in the front so you just turn that on to water all the flowers.

Everything is in place as you can see below.  If you click on the images, on the bottom it will tell you the name of the plant.  Figured this was the easiest way to remember what we planted since I never remember that stuff.  Chances are we will fill in some gaps with other flowers and whatnot but this was a good start.

Mt Falcon Hike

So Laura and I decided to go on a little hike this past weekend.  The weather was great and it was a really nice temperature out.  The hike was about 6.5 miles round trip the turn around point is where they were going to build the Summer White House in 1911 but never decided to

13030067This is a really cool website, it looks like most of these pictures take place in Russia as there are a lot of pictures from Chernobyl.  There are also a bunch of pictures from nuclear test sites from the islands that the US was testing on which are really cool.  Then there are a bunch of shipyard pictures too.

Artificial Owl

Here are a few photos that I took with my phone while in Las Vegas for the World Conference.  Sorry for some of the quality and blurriness but thats what happens when you are in Vegas and after a few drinks

Christmas 2008 Pictures

Here are some pictures from Christmas at the Hinton’s house:

Audi A5/S5 2010 Cabriolet

Well not a big fan of convertables, but still a fan of the A5.  This is the new Carbriolet and a few specs on it.  Here in the U.S. we’ll only be getting the 2.0L TFSI four-cylinder engine or the 3.2L FSI V6 that powers the A5 Coupe. The S5 is a different story. While the S5 coupe has a 4.2L V8 that it keeps until the end of the 2010 model year, the Cabriolet will immediately get the new supercharged 3.0L TFSI V6 that recently debuted in the new S4. The 333-hp V6 can be had with either the 6-speed manual or 7-speed S-Tronic dual clutch gearbox
