Landscaping With Life

by Dan | Comments Off

So this weekend we decided to plant some new bushes and flowers and trees in our newly landscaped areas in the backyard.  23 in all and lots of holes to dig and lots of dirt to move it was pretty crazy. Showed up at the plant place with pictures of what we had to work with and then talked with a plant designer for about an hour figuring out what to put where and what would work good with the exposure it receives and worrying about things like acidity levels under the trees and what would grow.  She was amazing helpful as we are sort of plant retarded!  Also we put in a soak line in the front so you just turn that on to water all the flowers.

Everything is in place as you can see below.  If you click on the images, on the bottom it will tell you the name of the plant.  Figured this was the easiest way to remember what we planted since I never remember that stuff.  Chances are we will fill in some gaps with other flowers and whatnot but this was a good start.

So Laura and I decided to go on a little hike this past weekend.  The weather was great and it was a really nice temperature out.  The hike was about 6.5 miles round trip the turn around point is where they were going to build the Summer White House in 1911 but never decided to

13030067This is a really cool website, it looks like most of these pictures take place in Russia as there are a lot of pictures from Chernobyl.  There are also a bunch of pictures from nuclear test sites from the islands that the US was testing on which are really cool.  Then there are a bunch of shipyard pictures too.

Audi A5/S5 2010 Cabriolet

Well not a big fan of convertables, but still a fan of the A5.  This is the new Carbriolet and a few specs on it.  Here in the U.S. we’ll only be getting the 2.0L TFSI four-cylinder engine or the 3.2L FSI V6 that powers the A5 Coupe. The S5 is a different story. While the S5 coupe has a 4.2L V8 that it keeps until the end of the 2010 model year, the Cabriolet will immediately get the new supercharged 3.0L TFSI V6 that recently debuted in the new S4. The 333-hp V6 can be had with either the 6-speed manual or 7-speed S-Tronic dual clutch gearbox

Thanksgiving 2008

Here are some pictures from our Thanksgiving Day festivities we had at our house.  We needed a way to break in our new dining room table so we figured we would do it by hosting Thanksgiving.  We are still missing out on the chairs but those will come probably after the wedding.

We deep fried the turkey as it is my preferred method of cooking.  It turned out perfect and of course made a nice big mess in the backyard but its all good.  After dinner we decided to play some Mortal Kombat and Rock Band which was highly entertaining watching Laura’s grandparents play.  I think Jack hit 3 notes on the drums at the right time but dammit he had a whole lot of fun doing it!

Large Hadron Collider

This one has been sitting in my backlog for a while to be added to my blogs.  Here are a whole bunch of High Definition pictures of the Large Hadron Collider which is now called the Halo Project.  This project is on hold until April as they melted a few magnets during their first round of testing.
