Wordpress 2.7 New Interface
by Dan
So I downloaded the beta version of 2.7 Wordpress because I wanted to take a new look at their write post page. I heard some good things about it. Previously I had been using Windows Live Writer to do my posting but I have run into some issues posting lately and it pulling out my HTML leading and ending tags making for some very ugly posts.
So I started using the one that actually comes with Wordpress admin pages. My biggest complaint was that I always like to add images to posts but with WLW I can just do a copy paste and that will upload the file. Super easy, but if i where to use the built in publisher for Wordpress I always had to use FTP to upload the file then remember the path to the image and put in the link to the image. Well that’s not the case anymore. I am using my favorite screen capture program to auto create a image file and then I use the add media buttons to the post to upload the pictures and it seems to work very very well and is no longer a hassle.
With the new version coming out this month they have cleaned up the input page even more. The layout makes way more effecient use of space and everything is where I need it. Also they added collapsable menu on the left side that minimizes down to just some icons…sweet super easy! I am thinking that this will replace me using WLW forever. I also found it really helpful to setup a bookmark in Firefox directly to the writing page and then create a keyword to get there. So all I have to do is open the browser and type ‘write’ and press enter and I am there.
